Toshiba intros Satellite L800, C800 notebooks

Toshiba details L800, C800 affordable notebooks
Toshiba on Tuesday unveiled two new lineups of mainstream notebooks in the Satellite L800 and Satellite C800. The L800s are thinner than their earlier counterparts and get a choice of third-generation Intel Core (Ivy Bridge) and AMD processors. They are available in 14-, 15.6-, and 17.3-inch screen sizes.
The two larger models get a 10-key number pad, and all three have a multi-touch trackpad that's larger than earlier versions as well as recessed. All have SRS Premium Sound HD audio and the company's USB Sleep & Charge tech that lets users charge accessories from the USB port even when the notebook is turned off. Options include a Blu-ray drive, while HDMI and an HD webcam are common. They get Toshiba's Fusion II finish in a choice of silver, black, white, red, and blue.
The Satellite L845 starts at $450, the L855 Series $500, and the L875 from $600.
The Satellite C800s get the same 14-, 15.6-, and 17.3-inch screen sizes and are more affordable. They also get their choice of Intel and AMD processors and hard drives up to 500GB in capacity. USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports are built-in, as are a media card reader and an HDMI output. A DVD drive and webcam are also part of every C800. The notebooks can be had in silver or black.
The Satellite C800s will be priced starting from $400. All begin shipping sometime in July.
