Series maintains aluminum/magnesium construction

HP is reportedly set to launch a successor to the EliteBook 8460p business notebook. Both models share the same 14-inch display and bead-blasted aluminum/magnesium construction, however the forthcoming EliteBook 8470p is said to take advantage of Intel's latest Ivy Bridge processors.

The company is expected to offer a selection of different Intel Core chips, though leaked specs posted on Laptop Reviews suggest one of the prototypes is running a 1.7GHz Core i7 CPU. The device is also expected to support the nine-cell accessory battery as its predecessor, which was claimed to reach 32 hours of run time.

Other expected features include integrated Intel graphics, USB 3.0 ports, up to 8GB of RAM, several storage options, and a choice between 1366x768 and 1600x900 display resolution.

HP has yet to confirm pricing information or launch details for the EliteBook 8470p.
