T-Mobile formally unveils HTC One S launch event
T-Mobile erased suspicions of an upcoming HTC One S launch Wednesday by sending invitations to the media for an introductory event on April 18. The evening event will include music from Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. and is explicitly intended to give hands-on time with the T-Mobile version of the Android 4.0 headliner. Internal leaks have had the phone shipping exactly a week later, on April 25.
The T-Mobile version of the One S is believed to be very close to the international version we tried in February. Its main changes will be a switch to T-Mobile's native 1,700MHz and 2,100MHz HSPA+ bands as well as the inclusion of multiple T-Mobile apps.
Both center on the extra-thin 0.31-inch body, 4.3-inch, 540x960 AMOLED screen, and dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor. HTC's Sense 4.0 is more stripped down than in the past but represents a major camera boost, both through much faster access to video and an ImageChip processor that works with the software to take eight-megapixel shots in rapid fire.
