Vodafone first UK carrier to offer Huawei handset

Vodafone UK is launching the Huawei Ascend G 300 this Friday. The value Android phone will be the first Huawei branded handset sold in the UK, a milestone for the Chinese manufacturer.

The Ascend G 300 will sell for £100 ($160) prepaid and for free on a 24 month £15.50 ($25) contract, and boasts a 1GHz processor, four-inch screen, five-megapixel rear camera, 2GB onboard memory, and supports Android 2.3 with a 4.0 upgrade due in the summer.

This initial UK release will test if Huawei can expand to other handsets in its Ascend range, and if its aim to be the top industry brand within three years is possible.
