Belle FP1 speeds processor and other improvements

Nokia are today rolling out its previously announced Belle Feature Pack 1 firmware for the Nokia 701, 700 and 603. Over the air updates now available include a processor boost from 1GHz to 1.3GHz, a version 8.2 web browser, and new widgets, amongst other improvements.

New widgets installed with the update consist of a clock, images viewer, mobile data tracker, music player, and others previously available by separate installation or from Nokia Beta Labs. Pull down notifications have been divided up into categories for activities and notifications in an effort to make the layout more user friendly. Updates to Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 and Microsoft Office Mobile Apps also make a welcome appearance.

Dolby Headphone and Dolby Digital Plus functionality, improvements to memory management, graphics performance, and multitasking, are present in the download, with the firmware included in the 808 PureView on its release. First generation Symbian^3 devices are not currently scheduled to receive the Belle FP1, but may still receive aspects of the update in the future.
