Samsung hopes ChatOn can draw from BBM users

Samsung's ChatON messaging service now has a client for BlackBerry phones. The app, Samsung's attempt at a cross-platform messaging service, joins the existing roster of clients for iOS, Bada, and Android handsets.

ChatON has had trouble extending its userbase from users finding the app installed on Samsung smartphones by default, gaining less than a million downloads from Google Play since October last year. The service will be competing against Blackberry Messenger and more established messaging networks, although Samsung hopes the platform-agnostic aspect, as well as sharing pictures and video, will bring in new users.

Blackberry users can download the app through the ChatON website.
