Job advert from Microsoft tells of Skype for web

Microsoft appears to be considering a new version of Skype for web browsers, based on a job advert posted online. The Microsoft Careers website shows listings for developers based in London and Prague to help create a project named as “Skype for Browsers” based on HTML5.

This will not be the first time Skype will work in a browser, as it has powered video chat on Facebook since July last year, but there has not been a stand-alone website version of Skype as of yet.

There is a possibility that this could be linked to Windows Live Wave 5, as that was seen to have web-based video chat in a previous leak. [via Ars Technica]
