Pebble to add waterproof design thanks to demand

The Pebble e-paper watch project covered last week and featured on crowd-sourcing website Kickstarter has now raised over 31 times more capital than it was originally intended. The initial pace was certainly impressive, as the project met its goal within just two hours of it being posted on the site. The device, once manufactured, promises to bring with it iOS and Android compatibility over a Bluetooth connection.

The small e-paper display will show incoming caller IDs, e-mail notifications, weather and calendar alerts, as well as Facebook and Twitter information. A golf rangefinder app will let golfers see how far they are from the pin as well. With all the interest and money, the team behind the project have vowed to make it waterproof as well. A battery life of seven days is also promised, while a tiny electric motor will vibrate the device to deliver alerts. An SDK will allow developers to create apps for the device as well.

Kickstarter rewards donors with a finished version of the product, and in this case, a donation of $115 will result in a Pebble once it hits production. When that will be or what these final Pebbles will cost isn't known, however. [via Droid-Life]

The price is a little silly

It doesn't do a lot. Should retail for $89. Why would I pay $115. Kinda silly. I WILL get one, but not for $115 thanks.

    No

No, it wasn't a price to set up production, it was a reduced price. Right on the KS it says "This watch will retail for more than $150. "

I'm sure though, they're worried about not having your $115 in that three-million dollar pot, and as such will probably fail.
