Verizon 4G LTE to cover two thirds of US

Verizon will be adding 4G LTE coverage to 27 new markets and expanding coverage in 44 existing LTE markets. From Thursday, the carrier will be covering potentially two thirds of the US population with the high-speed network.

States receiving the coverage increases include Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Washington.

This coverage push is in line with Verizon CTO David Small's aim of moving from 200 areas to 400 or more by the end of this year and would help pursue a previously made firm stance that all 2012 smartphones from Verizon would use LTE.
