HTC One X gets American launch plans

The AT&T version of the HTC One X received its official launch details on Wednesday. The LTE-equipped Android 4.0 hardware should be in stores on May 6 and will be priced aggressively for an LTE phone, at $200 on a contract. Pre-orders start April 22.

The One X on AT&T will be the first North America-specific version of HTC's phone to ship. While it's externally similar to the international model, it swaps out the quad-core Tegra 3 chip for a dual-core Snapdragon S4 in order to get on-chip LTE. Despite the reduced cores, performance is still relatively quick, and the battery life should be relatively healthy even with 4G.

Every version shares a 4.7-inch, 720p LCD as well as an eight-megapixel back camera with an ImageChip that allows for burst photos as well as shooting still images during movies. It's joined by a front 1.3-megapixel camera, 16GB of built-in storage, and a Sense 4.0 interface that makes the special camera features possible while expanding Beats Audio support, aggregating media sources, and paring back some of the excesses of earlier Sense versions.
