Galaxy S III gets possible tip in Amazon listing

The Samsung Galaxy S III may have had a handful of technical features given out with a tentative listing at Amazon Germany. The placeholder has few details, but it claimed a possibly contradictory 12-megapixel camera, unlike the eight-megapixel example that emerged in Vietnam just on Friday. A 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display and 16GB of built-in storage are at least close to the details of the prototype.

The entry mentions the expected Android 4.0 as well as a microSD slot, although the mention of "up to 32GB" may have been confusing the capacity for just the slot with the total space.

As shown, the Galaxy S III would be sold by Amazon itself for a possible 599-euro ($792) contract-free price and wouldn't be the result of a third-party reseller speculating about the components. Third-party retailers only rarely have actual knowledge of phones before they're unveiled, however, making it very possible some of the details are inaccurate.

Full details will emerge with Samsung's event on May 3. The launch is known to be later than usual to shorten the gap between the introduction and the release, and might see the S III shipping within weeks rather than months. [via BestBoyZ and The Verge]
