NVIDIA to bring out Xbox 360-beating mobile GPU

NVIDIA will release a mobile graphics chip that has more processing power than the current Xbox 360 sometime later in 2013 or 2014, the company said in ap presentation handed out to the media. The slide's projection for console performance does drop off at 2012. The solid lines represent estimated performance, with the dotted ones standing for trends.

The Xbox line includes the original Xbox and Xbox 360, while the mobile line has the original iPhone, Tegra 2-powered handsets, and the Tegra 3 listed as well.

By 2014, Microsoft is likely to have released the next-generation Xbox, which will likely leapfrog NVIDIA hardware and provide a new target. Qualcomm has also said its Adreno 300-series GPUs will bring new levels of performance to mobile platforms.
