ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 priced and dated

Arriving as expected, the ASUS Transformer Pad TF300 was given more concrete US launch details on Sunday. The entry Android 4.0 tablet is available now in a blue variant for $379 with 16GB and Wi-Fi. A 32GB version costs just $399, and the namesake notebook-like dock adds $149 to either capacity's price.

Other color versions, including red and white, will wait until early June.

The device is in some ways a refresh of the original Transformer Prime, keeping the 10-inch, 1280x800 display and the quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 chip. It has an unusual amount of attention spent on the rear camera, which at eight megapixels and f2.2 is more suited to low light than typical tablet cameras. We found the TF300 a solid experience, although the advantage of the tablet is now its lower price.

No details have emerged for launch details surrounding the Transformer Pad Infinity TF700, a high-end version with a 1920x1080 display.
