App revamped following service enhancement

Less than a week after Microsoft revamped its SkyDrive cloud storage service, the company has released an update to its SkyDrive mobile app for Windows Phone. Users can now manage permissions for folders, providing access control for individual folders or files. The system takes advantage of the People Hub for quick sharing with contacts.

Aside from the permissions controls, the app also added a batch-selection tool for managing large numbers of individual files.

The web-based SkyDrive overhaul brought Open Document Format (ODF) support, file sharing via Twitter, and the ability to upload 300MB files directly from a browser. Features are expected to further expand once the company releases SkyDrive for Windows 8.

SkyDrive 2.0 for Windows Phone is now available as a free download from the Marketplace. [via WPCentral]
