New adapters boost signal up to three times

Amped Wireless has released two new high-power Wi-Fi directional USB adapter, the UA1000 and the UA2000. The company claims the directional adapters are capable of boosting wireless range up to three times normal performance.

The adapters rely on dual polarity, dual band directional antennas in order to concentrate the directional strength of a Wi-Fi signal into a single direction, increasing signal range. The new adapters work on both Macs and PCs and connect to computers using USB 2.0. The adapters can be mounted on a notebook screen for increased mobility. The UA1000 is capable of connecting to 2.4GHz networks at 300Mbps, while the UA2000 is capable of connecting to 2.4GHz and 5Ghz networks at 300Mbps.
