Samsung Jasper leaks with Snapdragon S4

A new Samsung smartphone with the codename ‘Jasper’ has been spotted undergoing Bluetooth certification. Other details to surface so far about the new handset includes that it is undergoing testing with Verizon and that it is running Qualcomm’s speedy dual-core Snapdragon S4 (MSM8960) based on its proprietary ‘Krait’ architecture. The processor is the same 1.5GHz model found in the HTC One X for AT&T and the HTC One S that has been shown to blow past the quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core chip.

Although boasting a high-performance chip, the new Samsung ‘Jasper’ (SCH-i200) does not appear to be carrying a 720p display that marks the current generation of high-end Android smartphones, but instead incorporates at WVGA-type with an 800X480 resolution.

Little else is known about the device at this time, though it is listed as running Android 4.0.3 out of the box. Samsung has also been known to employ Qualcomm Snapdragon processors in its 4G LTE devices, making it plausible that Jasper may make an appearance as a mid-tier device on Verizon’s 4G LTE network.
