Five new models sporting new Intel processors
HPon Tuesday announced an expansion of its consumer desktop line with the addition of five models based on Intel's latest "Ivy Bridge" processors. The new lineup is among the first from HP to take advantage of the added performance boost and security features of Intel's third-generation Core lineup.
Ivy Bridge processors are based on a 22nm design, resulting in lower power consumption and higher transistor counts. For desktops, an Ivy Bridge core will mean a faster CPU at lower cost, while notebooks will get comparable power with better battery life.
HP's Ivy Bridge desktop lineup will include all-in-one options, the Omni 220qd, Omni 27qd, and the TouchSmart 530xt, as well as the HPE h8t, HPE h8xt, and HPE h9t tower options. These offerings join the HP Pavilion DM4-3110tx Beats edition, which also features Ivy Bridge internals and was listed by HOP China's website for sale earlier today.
