Version 2.5 brings Metro style, essential feature
Facebook will soon be releasing a new version of its app for Windows Phone, according to a post from the Facebook for Windows Phone team. The update will add a Metro flair to the app and implement a number of new features. Some of these features were popular requests among Windows Phone users, while others are late-arriving implementations of common Facebook features.
The post details the new additions users will find in v2.5 of the app. In addition to threaded messaging, users will be able tag friends and locations in posts, as well as delete posts and comments from their walls using the tap and hold context menu. Tapping on links in posts will now take users directly to the content attached to the link. The update will also allow users to Like comments, a feature that is virtually synonymous with the social network.
The notification from the Facebook for Windows Phone team did not note a specific release date for the app, stating only that the group was "getting close to release." Previous updates have allowed users to pin specific app features to their home screens and access event information.
