ColorWare offers $1,000 versions of Beats by Dre

ColorWare has begun shipping the ColorWare Collection, which are three iridescent-colored Illusion Beats Studio by Dre headphones. The customized Monster phones will only be available for a limited time, though the company isn't saying how long exactly. The chameleon-like effect will shift colors depending on the angle from which they are viewed.

Three color combinations are available, including blue-to-red, red-to-gold, and gold-to-silver, though there are more shades in-between. Technical specs of the headphones remain untouched. That includes powered noise-isolation from two AAA batteries.

ColorWare charges $1,000 for either color (about a $700 premium over the standard Studios) but throws in an embroidered, black ultrasuede carrying case. The headphones ship in mid-May.
