LG Optimus True HD LTE outed in Germany

LG has announced that an Optimus LTE variant, the P936, will arrive in Germany as the Optimus True HD LTE. The handset manufacturer outed the name today on its official German blog.

LG has confirmed previously suggested specs, including a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor and a 4.5-inch "True HD" IPS display with 1280x720 resolution, along with additional details such as 1GB of RAM, 4GB of integrated storage, a MicroSD slot and HDMI. The blog admits the smartphone will use Gingerbread instead of Android 4.0 at launch, with no mention of future upgrades.

The "True" label is viewed as an indirect dig at competing devices that use AMOLED panels with PenTile technology, which shares some subpixels and results in a unique appearance described as fuzzy. Some AMOLED panels, such as the Super AMOLED Plus display in the Galaxy S II, utilize standard RGB subpixels, however the Galaxy Nexus and many others still use the PenTile configuration.

There are no details as to when the Optimus True HD will be on sale in Germany. While there is LTE coverage in the country provided by Vodafone, O2, and T-Mobile, a carrier has not been confirmed as of yet. [via Unwired View]
