Augmented reality table uses lasers, Kinect, more

NUI Group forum member Bastian has created a touch table that uses a projector and Microsoft's Kinect sensor to make it appear as if a user is touching objects floating in space. According to Hackaday, there are also four infrared laser involved to track the hand, making for an effect of a 3D holographic display. Kinect tracks the user's head in relation to the table, allowing the projector to adjust the image accordingly.

Dubbed Augmented Reality Table v0.1 by its maker, the projector is mounted under the table and its output reflected up using a mirror mounted at an angle. The lasers are mounted at each corner, and a finger-tracking camera sits beside the projector. There is no detailed information about the software, but it allows different colored block and textures to be positioned within the 3D space.

Other specs, such as the processors used, haven't been revealed. [via SlashGear]
