Motorola MOTOLUXE hits North America through Canada

MOTOLUXE reaching Canada in spring

Motorola brought one of its 2012 international phones to North America for the first time on Monday. The MOTOLUXE should be reaching Canada through one or more carriers sometime in the spring. Which carriers, and other launch details, were left out for the Android phone.

The MOTOLUXE raises the baseline for entry-level phones and has a four-inch, 480x854 display as well as an eight-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera. Most of the savings come through the 800MHz processor. A signature hardware design gives it a large light-up notification for messages.

It still ships with Android 2.3 and focuses on a Social Graph app widget that dynamically prioritizes contacts on the home screen as they're reached more frequently. A collection-focused Smart Gallery and a Music+ app centered on favorites round out changes. Motorola is only evaluating as to whether or not the MOTOLUXE might get Android 4.0 and hasn't made a commitment.
