Similar kits available for previous Mini models

Macintosh upgrade specialist OWC has developed and released a dual-drive upgrade kit for the 2011 Mac mini. Leveraging the unified architecture between the server and home editions of the Mini, the kit includes everything a Mini owner needs to install a second drive in the non-server edition of the Mini.

Included in the kit are drive rubber mounting grommets, the drive bracket, a SATA adapter cable, all the tools required to perform the upgrade, and screws for the drive. Any 9.5mm height, 2.5-inch SATA drive can be used in the custom bracket. A complete installation video on the OWC website accompanies the installation manual.

A similar kit is available that removes the optical drive in favor of a 2.5-inch SATA drive in previous models of the Mini. The 2011 Mini drive bracket installation kit is available now and retails for $50 without a hard drive. An installation service is available as well for an additional $100.
