Target to stop carrying Kindles, Amazon-branded accessories

updated 12:51 pm EDT, Wed May 2, 2012

Target won't order new Amazon gear starting May 13

Retail chain Target has confirmed that it will stop carrying Amazon Kindle e-book readers online and at its stores, along with getting rid of all Amazon-branded accessories and gear. The news comes from a leaked internal memo obtained by The Verge and a further confirmation from the retailer. There are no specific official reasons given as to why the move is happening, citing only a "conflict of interest."

The timeline is this spring, though the memo did reference May 13 as the last day of replenishing stock. Stock will then dwindle until it is gone, and Target did let on that it will carry other e-book readers, including Barnes & Noble's Nook.

Amazon undercuts retailers such as Target with its online offerings, which is the most likely reason Target chose to stop selling Amazon wares.

    Don't blame them

Others will probably do this too.
