Logitech unveils Solar Keyboard Folio
Logitech applied its expertise in developing solar power to computer peripherals to the iPad. Its new Solar Keyboard Folio both gives a new iPad or iPad 2 full protection as well as powering its built-in keyboard by light. The new peripheral is capable of using either indoor or outdoor light to charge.
Incredibly, Logitech says that the new Solar Keyboard Folio will last for up to years on a complete charge, even in total darkness. The device also uses the lower power Bluetooth 3.0 specification to help bolster its battery longevity, while the new iPad uses the even lower power specification Bluetooth 4.0 specification.
The Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio offers users two stand positions for either movie viewing or touch-typing. In movie-mode, the first keyboard row offers one-touch media controls for volume and play/pause. It also includes an automatic on/off function when the folio is opened or closed.
The Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio is expected to go on sale in early May for $130.
