Premium channel apps now on Android

HBO has rolled out Android versions of its HBO Go and MAX Go apps, allowing the users of Android-powered devices to stream content from the two premium channels on the go, so long as they already have a cable subscription to the premium channels. The Apps are available for free in Google's Play app store.

The HBO Go app gives users access to 1,400 HBO shows, including the channel's original programming, as well as a wide range of movies across genres. The MAX Go app brings access to 400 movies and the whole of Cinemax's original programming.

HBO has been bringing its premium programming to a wide array of devices as alternative methods of watching television have proliferated. The company's iOS version of its app saw three million downloads in the two months following its release on Apple's platform. Earlier this year, HBO Go also became available on Microsoft's XBox 360 console.
