Active Network launches two campsite reservation apps

Outdoor enthusiasts will now be able to make reservations for campsites at national parks, forests and other recreational facilities through the release of two new apps for iOS. The ReserveAmerica camping app (free) lists nearby state campground sites, and provides information on sites, RV restrictions, tent and cabin use and other options.

The National Recreation Reservation Service is behind the second app, Recreation.gov Camping (free), which parallels a revamped federal government national park site. The app provides information on federal recreation facilities across the US and is similar to the ReserveAmerica app in its ability to let users view photos and details of campsites and complete reservations online or by calling.

Rovio reaches 1 billion Angry Birds downloads

Rovio has reached 1 billion downloads of Angry Birds. 352 million downloads of the game have been made so far this year, adding to the 648 million achieved by the end of last year. The company believes there to be 200 million active monthly users across all platforms, and is reportedly preparing for an initial public offering in 2013.

Photo sharing app Imajao joins iTunes app store

The Imajao app has been released for iOS and Mac. The photo sharing app allows users to submit photos and screenshots to the social network, apply tags to images, and follow other users. Both the Mac (App Store) and iOS (App Store) versions of the app are free to download.
