Spectre XT, Envy Sleekbooks and Ultrabooks, Elitebook Folio added
At a HP press event in Shanghai, four new models of laptops were demonstrated today. With "performance, responsiveness and a secure computing experience in a thin, elegant form factor" according to HP Vice President and General Manager Kirk Skaugen, the new additions to the product line are the HP Envy Spectre XT, Envy Sleekbooks, HP Envy Ultrabooks, and the EliteBook Folio 9470m.
The HP Envy Spectre XT is an all-metal cased laptop. At it's thinnest point, it is 14.5mm thin (.57 inches) and weighs 3.07 pounds. A 13.3-inch display is coupled with a 128GB SSD, an Ivy Bridge processor, gigabit ethernet, USB3, HDMI, Beats audio over four speakers, and ships with complete versions of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and Adobe Premiere Elements 10. The HP Envy Spectre XT is expected in the US on June 8 for $1,000 and up, depending on configuration.
The HP Envy Ultrabook ships in either 14- or 15.6-inch displays. Both have an Ivy Bridge processor, and a mSATA solid state drive. HP Envy Sleekbooks boast either a 14-inch display with Intel integrated graphics processor, or the 15.6-inch with AMD accelerated display. Both the Sleekbook and Ultrabook series carry Beats audio, but with a dual stereo plus subwoofer system rather than the quad speaker system in the Spectre XT. The Ultrabook series laptops are expected on May 9 with starting prices from $750. One model of the Sleekbook, the 14-inch, is expected May 9 for $700 and up depending on configuration. The 15.6-inch screen Sleekbook arrives on June 20 at a starting price of $600.
Finally, the HP Elitebook Folio 9470m has a 14-inch display, weighs 3.6 lbs, and is 19mm (.75 inches) at the thinnest point. A full sized ethernet port, VGA, DisplayPort, USB3, and an optional integrated 4G connection round out the business-oriented model's specifications. No pricing has been announced for the Elitebook Folio 9470m, which is expected some time in October.
