LG quad-core Snapdragon S4 Eclipse 4G LTE leaks out

An LG smartphone with the designation LS970 has been leaked courtesy of an anonymous Brief Mobile source. The 'Eclipse 4G LTE' is notable for its horsepower, which could make it most powerful smartphone on the market when it lands. Under the hood, the device packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 'Krait' quad-core chip clocked at 1.5GHz and paired with a generous 2GB of RAM.

The MDM9615 quad-core chip is partnered with Qualcomm's latest APQ8064 chipset and is built on a 28nm process. It uses Qualcomm's vaunted 'Krait' architecture, which has been shown in its dual-core form to power past NIVIDIA's Tegra 3 quad-core chip in some performance benchmarks - in its quad-core form its performance should be something special. Qualcomm has an ARM architecture licence, allowing it to develop its own proprietary chip modifications. It is said to be very similar in design to ARM's next-generation Cortex A-15 chips.

The graphics performance of the new LG Eclipse 4G LTE will be bolstered by the inclusion of Qualcomm's latest Adreno 320 GPU, which should ensure that it will be highly competitive in both processing stakes and 3D graphics capabilities. It will incorporate 16GB of internal storage and will center on a large 4.67-inch WXGA (1280x768) LCD display. It will also pack a 13-megapixel camera and a 2100mAh battery into a body expected to be only 8.6mm thin.
