Voyager Mobile will use Sprint network for no-contract unlimited plans
A new carrier will vie for subscriber dollars when it launches in some states on May 15. Called Voyager Mobile, it promises to introduce unlimited, no-contract plans that start at $19 per month. The MVNO piggybacks onto Sprint's network, and is unique in offering Voyager Rewards points for using minutes.
The points can then be redeemed for airline miles, gift cards, phone upgrades, or free monthly service. WiMAX network access will also be offered in regions that support it. The Knoxville, Tennessee-based company will offer older Windows Phone and Android models, including the LG Optimus S, Motorola XPRT, Samsung Conquer 4G, and Epic 4G Touch. Opting for a phone will raise the monthly price to $39 per month for unlimited text, talk, and WiMAX data.
The carrier will expand to other unnamed states in the future.
