Spotify expands to Australia and New Zealand

New Zealand and Australia gain Spotify and chart apps
Spotify has expanded its music service to reach customers in Australia and New Zealand. As of today, both Southern Hemisphere countries will be able to use the streaming service, and will have country-specific apps offering curated music playlists. The launch takes place three months after Spotify first arrived in Germany.
Three different subscription plans will be available. Both countries receive Spotify Free as an ad-supported service. Spotify Unlimited in Australia will be $7 AUS ($7 USD) and Spotify Premium at $12 AUS ($12 USD). New Zealand will charge $7.50 NZD ($6 USD) and $13 NZD ($10 USD), respectively.
Both countries will have access to the 16-million-track catalog, along with two country-specific applications. Australia will receive the Triple J app, showcasing new tracks on the Triple J Hitlist and providing music news. New Zealand gets a similar app for the NZ Top 40 with similar features.
Competing service Rdio already has a presence in both countries with a similar pricing structure to Spotify, and has also been expanding its own global presence.
