Rooted Galaxy Nexus handsets can now run Galaxy S III code, features

Those who have committed to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus but are smitten by the upcoming Galaxy S III can now at least get some of the latter's phone features on the former. Thanks to some talented developers who have shared the necessary code on the XDA Developers forums, users can even run the S III-exclusive voice control S-Voice interface on the Galaxy Nexus. Otherwise ported over is the latest TouchWiz interface, wallpapers, icons and the rest of the Galaxy S III look.

The Apollo music player also makes the trip over. Users need to have CyanogenMod 9 preloaded onto their Galaxy Nexus phones, though similar ROMs such as AOKP may also work.

The only detail issues are said to include slow Galaxy S III live wallpapers, though this could be due to the lower hardware spec of the older Galaxy Nexus than any coding deficiencies. [via AndroidCommunity]
