Sony close to making deal with cloud gaming company

Sony may announce OnLive or Gaikai buy-out at E3 next week

Sony is rumored to be in deep-level talks to buy out a well-known cloud gaming company, MCV learned, though exactly which one isn't known. The official announcement is expected to be made at the E3 gaming show next week, according to earlier reports. The deal "is close to being signed," according to MCV's source, who isn't being identified.

The main cloud gaming players include OnLive and Gaikai, and it's believed Sony will bring the newly-acquired service to more than just console owners. Sony already has some experience with OnLive, as that company's app is already available on Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play Android-powered smartphone.
The earlier rumors were squashed, with many suggesting the deal will have to do with streaming TV services and not gaming.
