Nintendo to debut 3DS XL at E3 this week?

updated 04:40 pm EDT, Mon June 4, 2012

Rumored Nintendo 3DS XL may get a 4.3-inch 3D screen, E3 unveiling

Nintendo may upsize its current 3DS portable gaming console, according to reports from Japan that were picked up by SlashGear. If true, the device will likely be called the 3DS XL, following Nintendo's naming convention with the DSi and DSi XL. The 3DS XL is said to get a 4.3-inch display up top rather than the current model's 3.53-inch screen.

What, if anything, else will change is unknown at this point, including the bottom, non-3D screen that sits below the stereoscopic 3D screen. Timing for an update to the 3DS is about right, as the portable console was released over a year ago.

The gaming company already revealed a few new products and services at E3, including the Wii U tablet redesign, Wii U Pro Controller and Miiverse social network.
