U12Ci sports magnesium casing

GammaTech today announced the availability of its new U12Ci Durabook. The notebook/laptop combination device is designed with professionals on the go in mind, and is built to withstand a wide range of shocks and abuse. The new Durabook also implements a chipset from Intel's Ivy Bridge line of processors, giving it a longer battery life.

The device features a 12.1-inch touchscreen display that rotates on a hinge to turn the Durabook either into a tablet or a notebook. The U12Ci features Smart Battery circuits and calibration to protect against surges and against battery capacity loss over its lifespan. The notebook is MIL-STD-810G drop resistant to four feet, MIL-STD-810G shock resistant, and spill resistant against up to 100cc of water for five seconds. All input and output ports are dust resistant as well.

The U12Ci also features a Smart Card Reader, fingerprint scanner, and Kensington lock for data security. The U12Ci is available for purchase at GammaTech's site for just under $1,000.
