WD TV Live and TV Live Hub get new features and services across the world
WD on Tuesday has updated its TV Live and TV Live Hub media players with new, country-specific and worldwide services and features. Existing owners of either product will get access to the features thanks to a downloadable software update. The new services include Red Bull TV, ABC iview, Acetrax, Maxdome, the BILD TV-App, and the AOL On Network.
Live and recorded TV can be watched with the new SlingPlayer app, which is available to WD TV Live hub owners from around the world. This lets the WD TV Live hubs pull content from a nearby SlingPlayer media hub. Purchased HD movies from the VUDU app can be saved to the media player's internal storage.
Another new global offering is Red Bull TV, which offers a collection of programs from the World of Red Bull in HD. There are live webcasts and a catalogue of on-demand videos.
The AOL On Network is for US owners only, bringing HD video content from Engadget, TechCrunch, The Huffington Post, and Moviefone.
ABC iview is for the Australian market only, offering catch-up TV service from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. It offers programs from ABC1, ABC2, ABC3, ABC4Kids, and ABC News 24 that date back 14 days.
Acetrax movies is offered for users in the UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy and Austria. It's only for the WD TV Live hub and offers new and old blockbuster movies.
Maxdome is exclusive to Germany and the WD TV Live hub. It offers more than 45,000 on-demand movies and TV shows. Another German-only service is the BILD TV-App that lets users browse the latest news and videos from politics, lifestyle, entertainment and sports, as well as the photos of the day.
