Supports return of Mac Pro

(Updated with new image showing prices, products) An expanded list of part numbers indicates that Apple is indeed preparing to update virtually all of its Macs, according to a source for AppleInsider. In all, there are 27 new parts, of which 14 are believed to be Macs; all of the parts are said to be in Apple's reseller system. Currently Apple is selling 20 different stock Mac configurations, which implies that it will not update all of them, and/or that it might axe some options.

The list specifically makes references to parts headed to Australia. Three of the parts are consistent with others believed to be new Mac Pros, although they use slightly different numbers which may reflect the region involved. What the non-Mac parts might be is uncertain, though they could be rumored accessories and peripherals.

Why Apple would choose to update so many Macs at once is unknown, but a number of reports have indicated that the company wants to build Retina Display-quality screens into MacBooks and/or the iMac. To avoid harming sales, the company would have to make across-the-board display upgrades. The Mac Pro, meanwhile, hasn't been updated in almost two years, making it long overdue.

Update: A 9to5Mac version of the list includes product names and Australian prices. New iMacs, MacBook Pros, MacBook Airs, and Mac Pros are mentioned, as is an updated AirPort Express router. Still a mystery are a collection of items ranging between AU$12 and AU$240 in price.
