Netgear NeoTV Pro gets Intel WiDi support, Netgear adds four new channels
Netgear has now followed up its NeoTV 200 media hub with a new NeoTV Pro version that most significantly adds support for Intel's WiDi tech. This lets compatible Intel desktops and notebooks wirelessly stream what's on their displays through the media hub to an HDTV. The box otherwise retains the same Netflix, Hulu Plus, Vudu, YouTube, and Pandora streaming of the original.
The hardware also contains the same 300Mbps Wi-Fi radio, Ethernet port, optical audio output and HDMI port. It streams content, where available, in 1080p quality. A companion app for iOS (free, iTunes) or Android devices (free, Google Play) will double as a remote, just like Apple's virtual TV remote. A regular remote control is also included.
At the same time, Netgear will add four new streaming channels to all NeoTV streamers. These include SpiritClips, with Hallmark Hall of Fame feature films on demand, Fred, which has YouTube celebrity Fred Figglehorn, And1 Basketball street basketball coverage and Formula Drift for drift car racing.
The NeoTV Pro is now shipping at major retailers, priced at $70.
