Track scrobbling joins Android interface improvements
Spotify has updated its Android app with an improved interface and new features. Previously hinted in April, the app [Free, Google Play] has upgraded sound options, high-resolution artist imagery and a new slide-out navigation system. Users of Last.fm can also add their account details to the app, so played songs can be scrobbled and added to the playlist history.
The new user interface relies on sliding across between options. Friend playlists and profiles, queues and album art all make appearances, along with a new “related artist” view. Folder support for playlist management and other social aspects are included, with sound quality settings extended to 320kbps.
Android 4.0 users can now control Spotify playback through a home screen widget, although a premium subscription ($10 per month) continues to be a requirement for many of the high-end features and offline mode.
