Calls circulated rumors 'Groundless'

Samsung has denied reports that it is making its own social network. According to a story in the Korea Times, Samsung officials claimed the electronics manufacturer would be introducing a social network code-named “Samsung Facebook” early next year, however an official statement from the company strongly denies the reports.

The statement mentions how Samsung had made “Family Story” available on Smart TVs, smartphones, and tablets in February, but as a “family oriented convergence service” for limited sharing between a group. It confirmed that work is being made on upgrading the service, but it is “far from a Samsung Facebook as some are claiming it to be.”

Samsung does however run a communication tool, ChatOn, which the rumor said was being leveraged into a full cross-platform social media experience, instead of the instant messaging system it currently is.
