Online orders to arrive early next week

Apple is now shipping the new Retina models of the MacBook Pro. Notifications are being emailed to customers who ordered the computer from the online Apple store on the day of the WWDC announcement. Expected delivery dates are generally set for early next week.

The Retina MacBook Pro uses a 15-inch screen with 2880x1800 resolution and a 220ppi pixel density. Apple also claims a higher contrast ratio, wider viewing angles, and less glare than previous displays. Processor options range from 2.3 to 2.7GHz quad-core Core i7s, with NVIDIA Kepler GT 650M graphics, and a minimum 256GB SSD upgradable to 512GB.

A recent teardown by repair outfit iFixit called the new MacBook Pro the "least repairable laptop" it has ever taken apart. Special pentalobe screws, RAM soldered to the logic board, and gluing of the notebook battery into the case were seen as issues, with the "completely fused" display assembly being warned as a very costly repair.

    SSD capacity

Actually the BTO SSD capacity is up to 768GB and while the SSD is removable, it is proprietary in form factor to Apple. And since the RAM is soldered down, not socketed, upgrade to what you'll need or want in the future. up to 16GB.
