Verizon said sending notifications to customers

Verizon customers that own the Droid Razr or Droid Razr Maxx will soon get an update to the latest version of Google's mobile OS. Android news site Phandroid has received reports from readers who claim to have received Verizon notifications of a forthcoming Android 4.0 update.

The upgrade is expected to bring improved functionality for the Razr and Razr Maxx, including a panoramic camera mode and enhanced browser capabilities. The upgrade was scheduled to arrive several weeks ago, but it was delayed due to Motorola's difficulties optimizing the operating system for the devices.

The move to Android 4.0 will also update the My Verizon app store, and users will consequently have access to the Google Play Store. Verizon's message doesn't give specific details on the timing of the update.
