Amazon opens up Mobile App Distribution Portal for Europe
Amazon on Wednesday announced it has began collecting Android apps for European distribution in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. The apps will hit the online store later this summer, with another expansion coming later in the year. Developers are urged to visit the Amazon Mobile App Distribution Portal.
In North America, the Appstore saw a huge growth in just one year, and has grown to include features such as 1-Click purchasing and Test Drive that lets potential buyers try apps before they pay for them. The most recent addition came in the form of an In-App Purchasing service for even more monetization options.
Developers will get the ability to choose in which countries to market their apps, though they will need to list prices by marketplace, in local currencies. An option to sell them internationally by default is also available. They will also have to localize apps for different regions.
