Weeldreyer responsible for Numbers, iWeb
Facebook has recruited a former Apple UI design manager as its new product design manager, reports say. Chris Weeldreyer started at Facebook on June 18th, about four months after leaving Apple. At his former company he was responsible for overseeing the designs of Numbers and iWeb, and he is also credited on a number of patent applications.
While at Facebook he will be responsible for managing a team of designers, and reporting to the company's design director. His arrival occurred just days after the departure of CTO Brett Taylor, who is going on to work on startup projects.
Why Facebook would want Weeldreyer specifically is unclear, although his LinkedIn profile lists skills such as industrial, interaction, and user interface design. Higher-level Apple workers are often in high demand in other Silicon Valley companies, likely owing to Apple's own strict hiring standards and the company's massive financial success.

Great news!
Facebook is only marginally less ugly than MySpace, and has needed an interface for years. Hopefully this will finally give them something I can stand to look at.
