Rumor: Galaxy Note 2 in the works, has bigger screen

New Galaxy Note to sport Super AMOLED screen, new design

Samsung may be working on a successor to its Galaxy Note phablet, one is said to sport a bigger screen. An "insider source" has told GSMArena that the new device will feature a slightly larger screen and a revamped design. The source also revealed that the release date for the Note refresh may be moved up to beat the expected release of Apple's next iPhone.

The Note II is said to bear a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen and a design reminiscent of Samsung's popular Galaxy S III smartphone. The Note II's screen would be 0.2-inches larger than that of the current Galaxy Note, but the Note II is said to be less wide than the original.

The device is also rumored to contain a new Exynos 5250 chipset with a dual-core ARM-15 processor, 2GB of RAM, and an 8MP camera with improved sensor. The phablet had been rumored for an October launch, but the latest leak suggests that Samsung will move the launch up to September in order to steal away potential customers from Apple's iPhone 5.

While Samsung is expected to eventually revamp the Note, it is unclear whether the manufacturer would do so while the original is enjoying sales success in some areas and still preparing to launch in others. The company is also suspected to be working on a larger version of its phone-tablet hybrid, the Galaxy Note 10.1. [via GSMArena]
