Nexus 7 to get audio dock in late summer

No docking keyboard coming, though

The recently revealed Nexus 7 tablet will be getting its own dedicated audio dock later this year. Asus has confirmed to Pocket-lint that the Android 4.1 tablet will receive an audio dock, though the company did not specify a date for the device. The company also tamped down expectations that the new tablet might receive a keyboard like the one seen with Asus' Transformer line of Android tablets.

According to the Asus representative, the Nexus 7 will sit in the forthcoming dock horizontally, making for better movie watching. The tablet will connect to the dock with using the four docking connectors on the side. The representative gave no word on pricing, and only gave late-summer as a time frame for the dock's release.

Asked whether Nexus 7 owners could expect a docking keyboard like that seen in the Transformer range, the representative said there were no plans for one. Docking keyboards, he said, need a tablet of at least 10-inches in order to work effectively.
