Much-delayed smartphone arrives on Sprint

Sprint has announced that the Samsung Galaxy S III is now available for purchase on its network. The highly anticipated smartphone has seen repeated delays due to demand. The Galaxy S III was initially scheduled to launch on June 21.

Sprint customers can order the 16GB S III in Marble White or Pebble Blue for $200 with a new two-year contract. With a new two-year contract, the 32GB model is available for $50 more.

Samsung recently announced that they expect to sell 10 million units of the Galaxy S III by July.. Worldwide demand for the device outstripped Samsung's capacity to manufacture units and led to a number of delays in availability, possibly due in part to last minute alterations to the device's specifications. Those modifications, though, will make the device capable of running the newest version of Google's Android operating system.
