Autocomplete, filtered searching featured

Twitter today announced alterations to its search feature that are aimed at making searching on the site easier and more intuitive. In a post on the site's blog, Twitter explained the addition of search autocomplete and filtering options. Twitter hopes the new features will improve the speed and accuracy of searches.

When the feature rolls out, Twitter's search bar will present users with a range of suggestions that changes depending on what they've typed so far. The list will contain suggested spelling corrections, related search suggestions, and results mentioning real names as well as Twitter aliases. Additionally, the search box will display results from people individual users follow.

The search feature has been a major complaint among some users, but solving the issue reportedly made for something of a challenge for Twitter. The new features are part of a continuing effort on the part of the company to make its service more accessible. Previously, Twitter has purchased news services and expanded the range of content accessible through the site, all in the effort to make Twitter easier to use and more likely to keep users on the site.
