Launch likely made possible by Proview settlement

The third-generation iPad will finally launch in mainland China on July 27, local news sites claim. As would be expected, the tablet should go on sale at all of the company's retail stores in the country; it's also, however, anticipated to be available from Suning Electronics, one of the nation's biggest retailers. Pricing and carrier support details have yet to be leaked, but will probably be consistent with those for the iPad 2.

The date would mark a rapid turnaround after a settlement with Proview over use of the iPad trademark in the mainland. Apple may simply have been waiting for the case to resolve, eliminating the possibility of more lawsuits and the new tablet being confiscated. Both companies have been in talks for weeks, which would give Apple plenty of time to prepare a launch behind the scenes.
