Rogers marks Canadian LTE anniversary with expansion plans

Aims to cover 60 percent of Canada population with LTE by 2013
Rogers is celebrating the first anniversary of its LTE deployment in Canada by expanding its coverage. After spending $2.2 billion in 2011 and 2012 on the network in general, the carrier will be putting close to $500 million towards its goal of covering the majority of the Canadian population with LTE access by the end of this year.
The LTE expansion will see increases in coverage for Montreal, Toronto, Ottowa, Halifax, Calgary and Vancouver. Rogers plans to launch the 4G service in Moncton, Trois Rivières, Sherbrooke, Quebec City, Kingston, Ajax, Pickering, Oshawa, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, St. Catharines, Niagara, Windsor, Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, London, Barrie, Sudbury, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Kelowna, Abbotsford, and Victoria. The expansion will see Rogers LTE covering approxomately 60 percent of the population, with other cities due to be named for deployment in 2013.
Rogers originally launched its LTE service on July 7 last year, initially launching in Ottowa before expanding to Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. [via The Verge]
